Man Survives Being Ejected, Run Over, And Dragged

A young Southern Indiana man was ejected from his car, run over by another vehicle, dragged more than 150 feet…and survived.

It happened Tuesday on Highway 41 in Knox County.

Indiana State Police say in a news release that 21-year-old Kayden Riggins of Washington was driving at a high rate of speed on 41, near Camp Arthur Road, when he attempted to pass a car driven by 83-year-old Nelda Rae Eaden.

Police say Riggins lost control of his vehicle, hit a guardrail, and was thrown onto the highway.

The ISP says Eaden’s car then drove over Riggins and dragged him nearly 160 feet before she was able to stop in the median.

Riggins was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville with serious injuries.

Police say he was not wearing a seat belt, but a passenger in his car was restrained and wasn’t injured.

Eaden was also uninjured.

The investigation continues.
