A demonstration is planned for Friday in Evansville to push for a pedestrian bridge over Highway 41.

Indivisible Evansville, Brothers Saving Souls, and student activists from area high schools will rally at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Washington Avenue – and they’re expected to chant “build that bridge!”

In a news release, Indivisible says the lack of a pedestrian overpass at the intersection impacts the safety of Bosse High School and Washington Middle School students.

The group is calling on the City of Evansville to find the money and prioritize the overpass with state legislators.

INDOT crews examined the intersection Wednesday, taking measurements, watching pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and assessing how the intersection is currently operating.

The rally is planned for 3 p.m. Friday.
