Apartment Fire Sends 2 To Hospital, 4 Displaced

An apartment fire in Evansville sent two people to the hospital.

Firefighters were dispatched to 625 Liberty Way in the Liberty Terrace Apartments at about 6:30 Sunday evening.

They found a second floor apartment on fire.

In an email, EFD Division Chief Mike Larson says an occupant of the burning apartment injured his hand trying to get a fire extinguisher before evacuating the building.

Two occupants were transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. There were NO firefighter injuries.

Larson said firefighters contained the flames to the apartment of origin, but smoke and water damaged three other units, causing a total of four occupants to be displaced.

The Red Cross was called in assist the displaced residents.
