Two Arrested On Gun, Drug Charges

ISP

State Police have arrested two Evansville residents on drug charges.

The ISP says in a news release that a trooper stopped a minivan near Florida and 5th Avenue early Wednesday for an expired registration.

The driver was identified as 56-year-old Christopher May. A female passenger was identified as 51-year-old Dawn Wininger.

Police say “suspicious activity” led to a search of the vehicle.

The trooper said he discovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun between the center console and front passenger seat.

Police say the gun had been reported stolen and May didn’t have a license for it.

Police say a search of a suitcase in the backseat revealed numerous plastic bags and a digital scale with a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police arrested May and Wininger and took them to the Vanderburgh County jail, where they were being held without bond.
