Arts Council Chooses 17 Youth Programs

The Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana is providing a boost to youth arts programs.

The council says it’s awarding nearly $30,000 to 17 local organizations.

In a news release, the council says more than 30 groups applied for the Arts Council’s annual Sponsorship of the Arts grant.

A council committee selected the 17 recipients, which include the St. Vincent Early Learning Center, the Children’s Center for Dance Education, University of Evansville Theatre, the YWCA, and numerous area schools.

In the release, Arts Council Executive Director Anne McKim said “Children thrive when provided opportunities for creativity and expression.”

She said the 2019 Sponsorship Grant programs will allow thousands of young people to participate in the arts in their schools and throughout the community.
