The Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana has honored members of the arts community.
The Arts Council conducted its annual Arts Awards Celebration Thursday evening at the DoubleTree Hotel in Downtown Evansville.
Local community leaders presented six awards, including the Mayor’s Art Award, which went to the Martha and Merritt DeJong Foundation.
The foundation was established 25 years ago as a charitable trust to support the arts and education in the Tri-State.
The Arts Council Award went to Al Holen; the Performing Arts Award was presented to Next Act, Inc.; the Young Artist Award was shared by Emily Chamness and Cheyenne Miller; the Arts Educator Award went to Eric Renscheler; and the Visual Arts Award was presented to Erin Gibson for her documentary “Two Elephants.”
