Awards have been presented to talented young musicians in Evansville.
The Evansville Philharmonic’s 63rd Young Artists Competition at the Victory Theatre featured 14 Tri-State musicians in grades 9 through 12.
In a news release, the EPO says the grand prize was awarded to flautist Allyson Donnelly of Newburgh for her performance of Bach’s Flute Concerto in D minor.
Donnelly took home a $1,000 cash prize and the opportunity to perform with the Philharmonic Orchestra during the Young People’s Concerts next year.
The second-place conductor’s award went to violinist Annie Donato of Jasper.
The third-place orchestra award went to harpist Emily Fowler of Mt. Carmel.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Joshua Mijares (mih-YAR-ehz) on piano and Brendan Stock on cello.
The EPO says the Young Artist Competition is designed to promote, encourage, and nurture exceptional young talent.
