Diocese To Make Priest Allegations Public In Early 2019

We expect to learn the names of Catholic priests accused of sexual abuse in the Evansville area early next year.

In a news release, the Diocese of Evansville says a thorough inspection of clergy records dating back to the diocese’s founding in 1944 continues.

The Diocese says when the inspection is complete, a review board and Bishop Joseph Siegel will review the findings to make sure they’re complete as possible.

Following their review, the diocese says it will release the report to the public “in the early months of 2019.”

Meantime, the diocese says an investigation continues into allegations against Father Dave Fleck.

He was placed on administrative leave after a report of sexual misconduct that allegedly occurred decades ago.

Fleck remains prohibited from all public ministry.

The diocese says officials will make no further comment on either issue.
