ISP: Man was drunk and driving 112 on I-69

Indiana State Police arrested a man accused of driving drunk and traveling more than 100 miles-an-hour on I-69.

The ISP says in a news release that Trooper John Davis was patrolling I-69 in Gibson County Saturday afternoon when he observed a car traveling southbound at 112 mph.

The trooper stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 24-year-old Elmis Ayla-Lopez of Huntingburg.

Police say the trooper determined Ayla-Lopez was impaired and driving with a suspended license.

Police also say a search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana.

Further investigation revealed Ayla-Lopez had a blood alcohol content of .10%.

He was arrested on numerous charges, including Driving While Intoxicated with a Prior Conviction, Driving While Suspended, and Reckless Driving.

Ayla-Lopez is the latest in a series of drivers to be clocked above 100 miles-an-hour on I-69.
