You have another opportunity to learn about the preliminary options for a new bridge linking Evansville and Henderson.
I-69 Ohio River Crossing – or I-69 ORX – conducted an open house Tuesday evening in Henderson and will conduct another Wednesday evening in Evansville.
The event is from 4:30 to 7:30 at Bosse High School on Washington Avenue.
The open house will include project presentations at 5 and 6:30 p.m.
Based on engineering analyses, I-69 ORX has chosen West Alternative 1, West Alternative 2, and Central Alternative 1 as financially feasible and able to address the purpose and need of the project.
All the alternatives call for three lanes of traffic in each direction over the Ohio River.
One of the west alternatives is a six-lane span that would replace both of the Twin Bridges
The other two options call for a four-lane I-69 bridge, and keeping one of the Twin Bridges open for local, two-way traffic.
I-69 ORX says in a news release that refinement and evaluation of the preliminary alternatives will continue, with a preferred alternative expected by this fall, and a Record of Decision by fall 2019.
