EPD confiscates fireworks from juveniles

EPD

Evansville Police say they confiscated potentially dangerous fireworks from kids during the city’s Fourth of July display on Dress Plaza.

A news release from the EPD says the fireworks were confiscated from juveniles that were not supervised by an adult.

Police says most of the fireworks were the explosive type, including bottle rockets and M-70 firecrackers.

Officers say they confiscated several mortar rounds from one juvenile that didn’t have a launching tube with them.

The release says if the rounds were tossed into the crowd, they could have caused severe injuries.

Police say possibly as a result of the seizures, there was little to no trouble after the city fireworks show ended.

The confiscated fireworks were turned over to the Hazardous Device Unit for disposal.
