Juveniles accused of tossing water bottles

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says it’s caught a bunch of water bottle bandits “red handed.”

The sheriff’s office says two groups of juveniles may be responsible for dozens of damaged vehicles over the past two weekends.

On Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle being hit by an unknown object on Upper Mt. Vernon Road, causing the side mirror to explode.

A deputy noticed liquid in the road, and then spotted a water bottle being thrown from a passing SUV.

A news release from the sheriff’s office says the deputy stopped the van and found five juveniles and an open case of bottled water inside.

Deputies determined another car load of juveniles was also tossing water bottles and allegedly vandalizing cars.

Authorities say the suspects even used CB radios to communicate with each other.

The case has been turned over to Juvenile Court.
