Sheriff: two arrested after "trove" of drugs found

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says deputies found a “trove” of stolen medicines during a traffic stop.

Deputies responded to a reported shoplifting at the CVS at 511 E. Boonville New Harmony Road and saw a suspect vehicle leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed.

Deputies stopped the car on Old State Road, and say they found more than $9,000 in stolen over-the-counter medicines, hygiene products, and other retail items.

A news release from the sheriff’s office says the merchandise was believed to have been stolen from various Walgreen’s, Dollar General, and CVS stores in the Tri-State.

Deputies arrested two persons in the car: 25-year-old Chelsea Nicole McGowan and 50-year-old Tracie Marie Shipwash, both of Linton, Indiana.

They face numerous felony charges.
