Toyota to invest $600 million, add 400 jobs

John Gibson

Toyota is strengthening its commitment in Southwest Indiana.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana President Millie Marshall has only been on the job three weeks, but she had the pleasure of announcing a major expansion at the Gibson County plant.

(We will invest an additional $600 million for this project, creating 400 jobs. This will allow us to produce an additional 40,000 Highlanders by the end of 2019.)

Governor Eric Holcomb praised Toyota for “planting its flag” in Indiana and continuing to grow…

(We’re speaking the same language when we continue to invest in the future to remain globally competitive and we’re just so proud to do that with you.)

Officials say the expansion will mostly be technological, with no new buildings planned.

The 400 new jobs are expected to boost the number of workers – or as Toyota calls them “team members” -- to about 6,000 at the Princeton plant.
