INDOT: Lloyd Bridge signs a "precaution"

John Gibson

Drivers on the West Lloyd in Evansville may notice signs advising trucks to move to the left lane.

INDOT hopes to remove those signs soon.

The signs on the Eastbound Lloyd Expressway just before the Pigeon Creek Bridge and just before the Fulton Avenue overpass read “Trucks Use Left Lane on Bridge.”

INDOT’s Jason Tiller tells WNIN that the signs are precautionary, as crews check a recent temporary fix to the bridge’s bearing pads under the span.

Tiller says the bridge fix is working fine, but we asked Tiller why the signage also appears near the Fulton Avenue overpass.

He says inspectors checked under the Fulton overpass, and as far as he knows, there were no issues found there.

Tiller says the signs should come down soon, and INDOT has plenty of time to consider a long-term fix for the pads on the Pigeon Creek Bridge.

He assures the motoring public that both the bridge and the Fulton overpass are safe.
