IN and KY split bridge repair costs

Along the Ohio River, bridges span across the water, connecting Indiana to Kentucky.  Every day, about 40,000 vehicles drive between the two states on US 41.

To repair portions of the highway, a three-year construction project plan has been developed to provide lasting rehabilitations.

Kentucky and Indiana agreed to split the costs of the $25 million project. Kate Francis, the Border Bridge Program Manager, said the dual maintenance of the US 41 bridge dates back to 1947.

"The long term maintenance plan for every bridge over the Ohio River was established when the bridge was built," Francis said.

The project zone runs 3.8 miles and includes seven bridges in total.
