Governor Mike Pence visited Evansville for a ceremonial signing of the Regional Cities Initiative.
Mayor Lloyd Winnecke welcomed Pence to the second floor of Evansville’s Signature School, which will use Regional Cities money to expand its Science Center.
Winnecke said the expansion will create doctors, other health care professionals, and scientists.
The Sig School project is one of 19 in four Southwest Indiana counties to receive money from Regional Cities.
Governor Pence says the program is important to build on the state’s economy and create opportunities for students.
Pence signed the bill with students, teachers, administrators, state legislators, and business leaders looking on.
He says he’ll push to continue Regional Cities, if he’s re-elected.
The Republican governor faces Democrat John Gregg in the November Election.
