UE chooses VP from Kansas

The University of Evansville has hired a new executive vice president of academic affairs.

Following a nationwide search, UE officials decided on Michael Austin, who comes to Evansville from Newman University in Kansas.

A news release from UE says Austin served as provost and vice president of academic affairs at Newman. He’s also served as a professor of English, he has 15 years of experience in higher education, and has written several books.

Austin was chosen from four finalists who visited UE and met with faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees.

Austin is quoted as saying the University of Evansville is an “excellent school” with a reputation for outstanding academic programs and a strong liberal arts foundation.

UE President Thomas Kazee says Austin brings a strong background in liberal arts education and collaborative team building.

He starts at UE July 1st.
