Area facing Winter Storm Warning

The National Weather Service has boosted its snow prediction for the Tri-State.

Forecasters are now calling for three-to-five inches of snow in the Evansville area by midday Wednesday.

The weather service has also upgraded the Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm Warning. It goes into effect at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday and runs until noon Wednesday.

The weather service says snow – possibly mixed with sleet south of the Evansville area -- will stick to the roads, and driving conditions will quickly deteriorate Tuesday night.

Forecasters warn of a “very hazardous commute” Wednesday morning.

While the Tri-State prepares for one winter storm, another one is expected to move into the area Thursday afternoon.

Forecasters say the second storm could start as a mix of rain, sleet and freezing rain before changing to accumulating snow.
