We're Building A Better Tri-State Together

See Usonian house before move to UE

You have an opportunity to tour a small and unusual historic home before it’s moved to the University of Evansville.

The Peters-Margedant House in the 1500 block of East Indiana Street is a Usonian-styled structure built by William Wesley Peters, who attended Evansville College and was a protégé of famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

Indiana Landmarks says the 1934 structure predates Wright's first Usonian house.

The small house will be restored and moved from its location on Indiana Street near Willow Road to the UE campus.

But first, Indiana Landmarks will host an open house Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, when the public can get a pre-restoration look at the house. The event is free, but donations will be accepted and put toward a fundraising effort for the house.
