50 years of history is on display at the University of Southern Indiana.
USI has placed a timeline exhibit along a wall inside the Wright Administration Building. It tells the story of the university’s 50-year history in words and photographs.
University President Linda Bennett says her favorite photo in the timeline is one of USI’s first President David Rice walking on a wooden plank surrounded by mud, as construction crews were building the university in its current West Side location in 1968.
USI was founded in 1965 as Indiana State University-Evansville in the old Centennial School, which no longer stands at St. Joe Avenue and Indiana Street.
The university is also compiling a book for its 50th anniversary. Photos in the exhibit can be seen online at www.usi.edu
