IN General Assembly wraps up short session

This year’s legislative session has ended at the Indiana Statehouse, with lawmakers approving a package that reduces corporate income and banking taxes, and allows local governments to exempt some employers from the business personal property tax.

Lawmakers also approved tighter restrictions on scooters. Evansville Police lobbied legislators on that issue.

And legislators approved money for a pre-kindergarten program.

Republican Governor Mike Pence says the short session made "real progress" on jobs, roads and schools. But House Minority Leader Scott Pelath calls the bar of accomplishment "very low."
