University of Southern Indiana Theatre continues its 2026-2027 season with its second main stage performance of the year, The Old Man and The Old Moon. Performances will run Thursday through Sunday, October 29-November 1 at the Franklin Theatre, located in the USI Performance Center. Shows start at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30 and 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 and Sunday, November 1 for the matinee.
With book, music and lyrics by PigPen Theatre Company, The Old Man and The Old Moon will become the second main stage production to be directed by a USI Theatre student, Senior Brecken Maddox.
The Old Man has kept his post as the sole caretaker of the moon for as long as he (or his wife, the Old Woman) can remember. When she is drawn away by a mysterious melody that sparks memories of their shared past, the Old Man must decide between duty (and routine) and love (and adventure). Luckily for audiences everywhere, he chooses the latter, and what follows is an imaginative sea-faring epic, encompassing apocalyptic storms, civil wars, leviathans of the deep, cantankerous ghosts and the fiercest obstacle of all: change.

Don’t miss a Tri-State Christmas tradition! The VHS is host to the longest-running Pet Pictures with Santa event in the Tri-State, celebrating 40 YEARS IN 2026!! Mr. Claus himself makes the trip to Washington Square Mall from the North Pole during the first full weekend in November each year. This allows families to get their photos back in plenty of time for family Christmas cards!
Photos are $30 and include two poses with digital images for your use. (Add 4x6 prints for $5.) Costumes and accessories are encouraged, and accessories for pets are provided free of charge! Children, adults, and all species of pets are welcome in photos! (Really -- all pets! We have had potbellied pigs, miniature horses, rats, rabbits, a hedgehog, guinea pigs, a Sphinx cat, and more come to visit Santa!)
Proceeds benefit the mission of the Vanderburgh Humane Society!
