The man accused of killing an Evansville real estate agent last year has pleaded guilty to her murder. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
36-year-old Jamerus Parkman pleaded guilty to one count of murder and one count of burglary for the death of Susan Haynie.
She was found deceased in her East Side home in August 2025.
A judge set a sentencing date of December 2nd for Parkman.
Haynie’s death sparked legislation at the Indiana statehouse to better warn police agencies when convicted felons are released from prison.
Parkman had been released six months before Haynie’s murder.
He was paroled after serving less than half of his sentence for earlier crimes.
The death of the 74-year-old Haynier shocked residents of what is typically a low-crime neighborhood near Evansville’s Vann Park.
The case was initially probed as a death investigation.
Detectives ruled it a homicide a few days later and Parkman was taken into custody at a local motel.
