A Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of more than two dozen thefts from vehicles in Posey County. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:
Posey Circuit Court Judge Craig Goedde sentenced 27-year-old Rayvon Malik Robbins on 29 separate criminal offenses.
The convictions included theft and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, as well as a conviction for possession of cocaine.
Mt. Vernon Police arrested Robbins in February during a traffic stop on the cocaine charge.
After his arrest, investigators seized Robbins’ cell phone and found data that confirmed Robbins was in the area of the vehicle thefts in January.
Surveillance video also helped develop Robbins as the suspect.
Investigators say Robbins confessed to breaking into multiple vehicles and taking various items, including firearms.
Investigators say Robbins claimed he tossed the firearms in a nearby dumpster but they were never recovered.
Posey County Prosecutor Thomas Clowers praised what he called the “impressive investigative work by local law enforcement.”
