EPD: Protective Order Violation Leads to Shooting

File

Evansville Police say an officer shot and killed a suspect who wounded a woman that he was ordered to stay away from

Evansville Police say a restraining order violation led to a fatal officer Involved shooting. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of E Illinois St. during the noon hour Tuesday in reference to domestic violence in progress.

A juvenile caller reported their mother was dragged into a home by a man she had a protective order against.

The juvenile then reported hearing a loud bang.

The EPD says an officer approached the home and a man opened the door and pointed a gun at the officer.

The department says the officer fired multiple rounds at the suspect, retreated from the front of the home, and got the juvenile to safety.

The EPD says a female victim then came out of the home with a gunshot wound to her abdomen.

She was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect shot by the officer died at the scene.

The coroner’s office has not yet released his name.
