A house fire on Evansville's West Side Friday morning injured one person and left many displaced; the cause is under investigation

One person is injured and several are displaced after a house fire on Evansville’s West Side. WNIN’S John Gibson reports:

Firefighters were called to the home in the 18-hundred block of Stinson Avenue just before 6:00 Friday morning.

Police were also dispatched to the scene due to a law enforcement history at the address.

The Evansville Fire Department says firefighters found flames coming from the back of the house and crews brought the blaze under control in less than 30 minutes.

All occupants were able to get out of the burning home before firefighters arrived but the department says four adults and five children were displaced and the American Red Cross was called to assist them.

The EFD also says one civilian sustained injuries. No firefighters were hurt.

The department says firefighters also rescued two dogs, three ferrets, a snake, and two cats from the home.

The EFD says one cat was successfully revived on the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
