The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with an organization to recruit men and women leaving the armed forces. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Sheriff Noah Robinson says the Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the non-profit group INvets.
Founded by veterans for veterans, the organization connects active service members, veterans, and military spouses from across the country with more than 550 Indiana employers.
The organization is also an approved provider under the Department of Defense’s SkillBridge program, which allows service members in their final 180 days of active duty to train full time with a civilian employer.
Under the new partnership, Sheriff Robinson says qualifying service members can use those final months preparing for careers as deputies and jail officers.
Robinson says INvets will promote the Sheriff’s Office’s open positions to service members nationwide and provide assistance with résumés, interview prep, relocation, and access to state financial incentives.
