Forecasters are now warning of extreme heat in the Tri-State. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The National Weather Service has upgraded the Heat Advisory to an Extreme Heat Warning.
Forecasters have also extended it through Saturday.
They say they don’t see any significant relief heading into the Labor Day weekend.
The agency warns of “dangerously hot conditions” with daily temperatures as high as 101 and enough humidity to raise the heat index to 109.
They urge all of us to drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, stay out of the sun, take advantage of air conditioning, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside like wearing light, loose fitting clothing, limiting activities to early morning and evening, and staying alert to heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
As the weather service puts it: stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed.
