Investigators say a gun found inside North High School last week had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle several days earlier. WNIN’s John Gibson has more details:
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says a 15-year-old student and another juvenile stole the weapon, took it home, hid it outside, and later brought it to school to show other students.
Investigators say the student denied having any intention to harm anyone, and investigators say they have found no evidence that the student had such a plan.
Detectives interviewed the second juvenile, age 13, who does not attend school in person.
The sheriff’s office say investigators will determine whether charges should be filed against that juvenile.
Detectives also located the owner of the handgun.
The 15-year-old who investigators say put the gun in his locker faces charges of Possession of a Firearm on School Property, Dangerous Possession of a Firearm, and Theft of a Firearm — all felonies.
