An Evansville jury has delivered a mixed verdict in the trial of a man accused in a murder-for-hire plot. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The jury found Samuel Huggler guilty on count one of aiding or inducing a murder, and counts four through six of aiding or inducing an attempted murder.
Huggler was found not guilty on counts two and three of conspiracy to commit murder.
After Thursday night’s verdict, the next phase of the trial was set for Friday.
Huggler was accused of hiring Daniel Alvey to shoot his brother Jonathan and any witnesses.
Three victims were shot, including 18-year-old Olivia Huggler, who later died from her wounds.
Charges against Samuel Huggler were dropped in 2022 but prosecutors later re-filed them.
Federal authorities captured Huggler in Spain and returned him to the U.S.
