File

The Posey County Sheriff's Office someone has been making phone calls claiming to be Chief Deputy Jeremy Fortune

Authorities are warning of a caller claiming to be a Posey County Sheriff’s Deputy. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The sheriff’s office says it’s been told that a caller has been impersonating Chief Deputy Jeremy Fortune.

Authorities say the impersonator claims he’s representing a U.S. District Court in litigation about land they may or may not own as “collateral.”

The sheriff’s office warns potential victims to NOT give any information to the scammer and disconnect the call immediately.

The Posey County Sheriff’s Office says it has “absolutely no ties to any U.S. District Court” and does not litigate court cases.

There’s no word of any suspect or arrest in the scam.
