A long-time police chief in Princeton, Indiana has died at the age of 98. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Officials say it’s with a heavy heart that they say goodbye to former Officer and Chief Bennie Coomer.
Coomer dedicated 50 years of service to the Princeton Police Department, being sworn in back in 1956.
In 2002, Coomer was recognized as the longest serving active police officer in the state of Indiana.
December 14th of that year was declared Bennie Coomer Day.
Visitation and a funeral for Coomer are scheduled for Tuesday (Aug. 25) at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton.
