K-9 Kora has joined the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office as a certified drug detector

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is welcoming a new a four-legged helper. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:

K-9 Kora is partnered with Deputy Jeff Fentress and will help find illegal narcotics.

The sheriff’s office says the pair recently completed the U.S. Police Canine Association narcotics detector trial, marking their certification as a narcotics detection team.

Kora is an 18-month-old female German Shepherd mix.

She was acquired through grant funding provided by the U.S. Police Canine Association, AKC Reunite, and the Substance Abuse Council.

Kora and Deputy Fentress are assigned to the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force.

Kora is certified to detect the odors of Fentanyl, Heroin, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Marijuana.
