Forecasters have added a risk of severe storms to the ongoing heat wave. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
The National Weather Service has placed the Tri-State at a Level 2 – or slight – risk of severe storms Wednesday afternoon and night.
Forecasters say the main concerns are damaging winds of 60-to-70 miles an hour and heavy rain, but they say a brief tornado or two can’t be ruled out.
Meanwhile, the Heat Advisory has been extended through at least Friday with temperatures reaching the mid-to-upper 90’s and the humidity making it feel as hot as 110.
Experts recommend drinking plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, stay out of the sun as much as possible, take advantage of air conditioning, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Some relief from the heat is expected next week.
