Evansville Police say the driver of a stolen pickup truck hit two police vehicles in an attempt to escape

The driver of a suspected stolen pickup truck rammed into two police cars before officers took him into custody. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

It happened Thursday at Diamond and Heidelbach avenues after the EPD says officers spotted the stolen truck leaving a nearby parking lot.

Police say officers tried to stop the vehicle but the driver, identified as 34-year-old Dan Adams, purposely crashed into two EPD vehicles in an attempt to get away.

Officers were able to remove Adams from the pickup and take him into custody.

A female passenger was detained but not arrested.

The EPD says Adams was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries before he was transported to the Vanderburgh County jail on preliminary charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Methamphetamine, Resisting Law Enforcement and Reckless Driving.

Officers were not injured in the crashes.
