Forecasters say extreme heat and humidity have moved in following severe storms in the Tri-State. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Storms packing damaging winds and heavy rain rolled through the Evansville area Sunday night with wind gusts over 70 miles an hour reported in Posey and Union counties.
Now, the National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning in effect until 7 p.m.
Forecasters are predicting highs in the mid-to-upper 90’s with the humidity making it feel as hot as 115.
The weather service has issued a slightly less serious Heat Advisory for Tuesday, when the heat index could reach 105.
Regardless, the agency warns everyone to stay hydrated, take advantage of air conditioning, and watch for signs of heat exhaustion and the more dangerous heat stroke.
Slightly cooler air is expected to move in on Wednesday.
