Disabled veterans will be able to ride Evansville’s METS buses free of charge. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Officials have announced the launch of a three-year pilot program called Patriot Pass.
Eligible veterans can register for the pass at the METS Administrative Office at 601 John St.
Veterans may also download a registration form online and mail the completed application to the METS office.
METS officials will also be available at a booth at the VA Clinic off Burkhardt Road on the first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for registration assistance.
Applicants must present a valid photo ID and a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs determination letter verifying a service-connected disability rating of at least 10-percent.
Mayor Stephanie Terry says free access to METS will give disabled veterans another tool to stay independent and connected to healthcare, work, and “everything else our community has to offer. “
