We’re keeping an eye on the weather Tuesday as temperatures and humidity levels soar and strong storms develop. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Tri-State.
It’s in effect until 9:00 Tuesday night.
An Extreme Heat Warning is also in effect for the Evansville area until 7 p.m. with temperatures reaching the mid-90’s and the heat index well into the triple digits.
Strong to severe thunderstorms began to develop over southern Indiana Tuesday afternoon and will remain a threat until a strong cold front moves through the region.
The National Weather Service has placed the Tri-State at a Level 2 – or slight – risk of severe storms.
Forecasters say the greatest threats are winds up to 70-miles-an-hour, one inch hail, and a very slight risk of a tornado.
The cold front is expected to bring cooler and drier air to the region for the rest of the work week.
