We hope to learn the identities on Wednesday of two people killed in a crash on I-69 in Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
It happened Friday night on the interstate near South Green River Road.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s office says responding deputies found two individuals in the roadway with life-threatening injuries.
Evansville Fire Department medics attempted lifesaving measures but both were pronounced deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates a motorcycle traveling northbound on I-69 crashed.
Then, a passing motorist stopped to check on the motorcycle rider, activated his vehicle’s hazard lights, and exited his vehicle.
A third vehicle, also traveling northbound, reported moving to the left lane to avoid the stopped vehicle with its hazard lights on but then hit the motorcyclist and the driver who had stopped to render aid.
The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s office has not yet released the names of the two deceased.
The tragedy remains under investigation.
