Man Killed by EPD Detective Identified

An officer-involved shooting claimed the life of Caleb Weber, 24, who Evansville Police say shot at a plain-clothes detective

Authorities have released the identity of the man killed by an Evansville Police detective. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Vanderburgh County Coroner says 24-year-old Caleb Weber died at the scene of Thursday's shooting outside a home in the 500 block of Colonial Avenue.

The EPD says the detective had responded to a report of a possible overdose inside the home and Weber fired a gun at the officer.

The detective returned fire.

Police say Weber also pointed the weapon at a woman on the scene.

The exchange moved outside where the detective fired more shots, killing Weber.

No one else was injured.

The shooting remains under investigation.
