Convicted Murderer Jeffrey Weisheit

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is seeking an execution date for Jeffrey Weisheit, convicted of killing two children in Vanderburgh County in 2010

Indiana’s attorney general is seeking an execution date for a man convicted of killing two children in Vanderburgh County more than 15 years ago. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

A jury convicted Jeffrey Weisheit of the brutal 2010 murders of his girlfriend’s children, five-year-old Caleb Lynch and seven-year-old Alyssa Lynch.

Weisheit was convicted of tying-up the two children, setting their home on fire, and leaving the scene.

Police later arrested him after a pursuit in Kentucky.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has filed a formal motion with the state’s Supreme Court seeking an execution date for Weisheit.

Rokita says the death sentence has been upheld through every level of the judicial system, and it’s “long past time to carry out the sentence.”

Weisheit is being held on Death Row at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City.
