Authorities have recovered a truck from the Green River believed to contain the remains of missing Owensboro man

Authorities believe the remains of an Owensboro man missing for nearly 18 years have been found. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Charles Haywood was 91 years old when he was reported missing on July 31st , 2008.

Owensboro Police say Trey Lombardo, a hobbyist who dives in area waterways looking for missing persons, found Haywood’s vehicle in the Green River near the Spotsville Boat Ramp Thursday.

The truck was pulled from the water and the OPD says a search Friday turned up skeletal remains and a wallet containing Haywood’s driver’s license.

Investigators presume the remains are those of Haywood and have been in contact with his family.

They say foul play is not suspected.

The remains were transported to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville.

Positive identification is pending confirmation through DNA analysis and dental records.
