The sheriff’s office says it’s received reports of individuals receiving text messages claiming to be from the Clerk’s Office regarding court matters or payments.
The messages often include a link directing recipients to submit payment information.
The sheriff’s office says the Clerk’s Office does not send texts requesting payment through links.
Investigators also say do not click on suspicious links or provide any personal or financial information.
They warn scammers often use fear and urgency to pressure people into acting quickly.
