A Tennessee man is in custody accused of selling a dangerous drug on Evansville’s East Side. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The Sherriff’s Office says the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force learned that 38-year-old Carl Allen Jr. was selling fentanyl from an East Side hotel.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Allen’s hotel room but say they spotted him in the lobby.
The sheriff’s office says Allen tried to flee on foot and tossed more than 900-dollars into the air, along with a plastic bag containing more than 17 grams of suspected fentanyl.
After a brief pursuit, detectives took Allen into custody.
Detectives say they found 24-year-old Miah-Reighn Franklin of Mt. Vernon inside the hotel room and she also tried to flee.
Franklin had two active felony warrants.
Detectives say they also found digital scales, drug paraphernalia, suspected marijuana, trace amounts of suspected fentanyl, and a loaded handgun in the hotel room.
Allen and Franklin face multiple charges.
