A modern 24/7 public restroom has been installed in Downtown Evansville

Downtown Evansville now has a 24/7 public restroom. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The City of Evansville opened a Portland Loo at the corner of Sycamore and 6th Street next to the METS bus station this week.

It will be maintained by the Downtown Economic Improvement District.

The city says the restroom will serve downtown visitors, bus riders, event attendees, and the thousands of people who work in and around the area each day.

Officials say the modern facility has a durable, privacy-conscious design intended to support public health and safety while helping deter illegal activity.

The city council approved 275-thousand dollars last year for the Loo.

The council approved 33-thousand for the Improvement District to maintain it.
