An Evansville man who helped lead authorities to two federal fugitives in 2022 has died. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
71-year-old James Stinson managed a Southeast Side car wash where fugitives Vicky White and Casey White abandoned a pickup truck in 2022.
Family members say he suffered a heart attack on Thursday while mowing grass and later died.
Stinson alerted authorities after the stolen pickup was left at the car wash.
The tip helped police track the pair to a motel on highway 41, just north of the Vanderburgh County jail.
Authorities eventually pursued the pair in another stolen vehicle and Vicky White took her own life as police moved in.
Police arrested Casey White and he was returned to Alabama to face new charges.
