We’re keeping an eye to the sky Monday for a potential outbreak of severe storms, including tornadoes. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
Forecasters have placed the Evansville area at Level 3 – or enhanced risk of severe storms – on a scale of one-to-five.
The National Weather Service say showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the day, with the main event expected Monday evening.
That’s when forecasters say a powerful squall line will roll through the Tri-State, bringing with it heavy rain, large hail, winds of 60-to-70 miles an hour, and possible tornadoes -- as strong as F-3.
The weather service urges you and your family to stay vigilant, make sure your cell phone is set to receive storm warnings, and be ready to move to your safe place.
More showers and storms are in the forecast but with a lesser chance of severe weather.
The weather service says one positive from the storms is badly-needed rain.
Much of the Tri-State has been dealing with drought conditions.
