Vanderburgh Superior Court Judge Wayne Trockman says a study shows the county's Treatment Court is working

A Vanderburgh County judge says the county’s Treatment Court is delivering positive results. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Superior Court Judge Wayne Trockman cites a comprehensive independent evaluation conducted by NPC Research.

It shows the Vanderburgh County Treatment Court reducing recidivism, decreasing incarceration, strengthening public safety, and generating millions in savings for taxpayers and the criminal justice system.

Judge Trockman says “When we invest in evidence-based treatment and accountability instead of simply cycling individuals through the traditional system, we get safer communities, stronger families, and a better return on taxpayer investment.

The treatment court offers alternatives to incarceration for individuals with substance use and behavioral health disorders through three structured programs: Forensic Diversion, Day Reporting Drug Court, and Re-Entry Court.

Each program combines judicial supervision, individualized treatment services, intensive case management, Moral Recognition Therapy, and frequent drug testing.

From 2021 to 2024, the programs served more than 440 participants.
