Governor Mike Braun has removed the Dubois County Sheriff from a state board. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Reporting partner Capitol Chronicle says Braun removed Sheriff Tom Kleinhelter from the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board.
It followed a 9-to-4 vote from the board to reject an agreement that would have required Kleinhelter to resign from the board but delay surrendering his law enforcement certification until January.
Kleinhelter remains Dubois County Sheriff, while a decertification request is pending before the training board.
The sheriff faces charges in Marion County tied to allegations that he lied during a state police investigation.
Neither he nor his attorney, Jim Voyles, responded to requests for comment.
